Small change: doing nothing can be a valid strategy

In the classic British comedy Yes, Minister, a character explains what he terms politicians’ logic: “we must do something; this is something; therefore we must do this”.
‘Why bother?’ is the most underrated question in business. But the reality is that change is not always necessary. And, in fact, often creates more problems than it solves.
The uncomfortable truth is that human beings are notoriously poor at predicting the consequences of our actions — as any cursory glance at any political history will tell you. That fact alone should give you and your colleagues pause.
