Small change: do the hard work first

In every organisational change process, there comes a moment where things get sticky.
Sometimes this is the natural consequence of trying to do unfamiliar things. Sometimes it’s because circumstances change. But, more often than not, it’s because no-one did the upfront work to clarify what the change process was intended to achieve, and any potential points of disagreement about this got quietly buried.
A failure to do the hard work upfront is only going to result in harder work being necessary later. The bill always comes due: it’s just a question of how much compound interest you allow to accrue.
Something to consider: is what we’re seeking to achieve understood and agreed by everyone?
