Small change: find common ground

We human beings like our opinions, don’t we? Listen to any conversation in any workplace and you’ll hear no end of them.

We all have opinions because we’ve all had life experiences. And those life experiences have given us data, which informs how we see the world and how we think the world should be.

But the world isn’t that way: not really. And nor are we. In fact, look behind the opinions and you will see human beings in their identikit, technicolour glory. Each wanting to relate. Each wanting to understand and be understood. Each wanting respect, autonomy and growth.

And in that realisation we can often find common ground that will make even the most intransigent opinion vanish like the mirage it is.
