Small change: let it go

Take stock of your to-do list. There’s guaranteed to be one project, one activity, one conversation, that’s going to get you nowhere – but you’re just determined to see through.

We all do it. Through a desire to protect sunk costs, rub others’ noses in it, or prove something to ourselves, we lavish attention on things we know we shouldn’t. In doing so, we detract energy from more important things that should be commanding our time and attention.

Just forget it. Forget the cash you’ve spent. Forget that need to be right. Forget your desire to prove yourself (no-one cares). Let it all go. And now take that extra time and energy, and put it towards something useful.

Something to consider: what can I remove from my to-do list right now?
