Small change: play in position

Imagine that you’re managing a football team. (More of a stretch for some of us than others, but bear with.) What’s last thing you would have your players do?
All run, as one, after the ball.
Yet many leadership teams adopt this exact behaviour. Such leaders seem to believe that it’s their divine right to contribute to every discussion, no matter how far outside their field of expertise and experience the topic might sit.
We are all good at some things, and bad at others. We are all experienced in some things, and naive in others. Playing in position is healthier for us as individuals. And, as any manager will tell you, way better for team performance when the pressure is on.
Something to consider: where am I playing in position, and where am I not?
