Small change: use anger as an energy

Of all the emotions present in any organisation, anger is one of the most common — and least commonly acknowledged. Wherever there is unexpected challenge, unresolved conflict or unmet expectations, you’ll tend to find it lurking.

Many of us fear anger. It makes us uncomfortable, perhaps because we worry about the consequences of unleashing it. And that can prime us to avoid or suppress our feelings.

But, like all emotions, anger isn’t good or bad. Rather, it’s a signal that something might need to change. In that sense — and to quote John Lydon — anger is an energy. Managed and channeled in the right way, it can be a force to get things moving.
